Ruby Gemstone Enhancement Notes

Most rubies are subjected to heat treatment(s) to intensify or improve uniformity in color and appearance.  The stability of heat treatment is excellent and permanent. Occasionally, rubies are subjected to intentional filling of surface cavities and fractures with foreign material including glasses. The vast majority of these rubies show visible signs of enhancement under 10X magnification. The stability of this enhancement is fair to good. However, Jewels & Diamonds™ does not routinely stock rubies subject to this form of enhancement, and none are currently featured on our website that contain a fracture filler of any kind. Jewels & Diamonds™ does stock a few lab-created (synthetic) rubies.  However, none are featured on our web site.
